Please join us in our 2nd Annual “Youth in Paradise” Walk and Festival at NTC South Promenade at Liberty Station benefiting foster children in San Diego!

There are roughly 7,000 children in foster care or group homes in San Diego. Children in foster care have been removed from their homes, neighborhoods and communities. Often, they are the victims of abuse, neglect and abandonment. They deal with constant rejection and disappointment and go through life lost and without hope. Feeling empty and abandoned some will turn to sex, drugs, gangs and violence to cope. Many find themselves on the streets at age 18 with no skills, no home and no one to help them.

Through the 2nd Annual “Youth in Paradise” Walk and Festival at NTC South Promenade at Liberty Station, we hope to increase awareness of the Volunteer Mentor Program, recruit new mentors, and raise funds to support activities and enrichment opportunities for foster children and their Mentors. Mentors often change the life of a foster child by providing commitment, consistency, and stability.

A MENTOR:

Motivates youth to develop their potential.
Encourages youth to set goals and grow.
Nurtures the relationship into a trusting and caring friendship.
Teaches a child how to do things.
Opens up a youth’s world.
Role-models appropriate behavior and attitude.

We hope that you will take this opportunity to participate in changing the life of a foster child and join us on September 20th, 2008 for the 2nd ANNUAL “YOUTH IN PARADISE” WALK AND FESTIVAL AT NTC SOUTH PROMENADE LIBERTY STATION to benefit San Diego’s foster youth!
